What's active, what's done, and what's not started

Post any and all gripes here.

What's active, what's done, and what's not started

Postby top1214 » Wed Jan 19, 2011 12:51 am

Don't mean to rag on the admins, but....

There are many threads in Spading central that the OP considers "Finished" but haven't been moved to the finished area (or given feedback saying this isn;t finished b/c of X). There are also many threads that seem like they should be "done" (i.e. the thread for the BBB or Meteoid). Additionally, the sticky about what needs spading has not been updated in many months.

This makes it a bit difficult for me to know what is "done," vs. what lost the interest of the OP and isn't done vs. what hasn't been started w/out checking now 5 pages of threads.

Hah. Yeah... It's hard to maintain fluid documentation like that without automation.

I understand, and like I said, I'm not trying to rag, but it is hard if you want to spade, and can't tell what has and hasn't been started. (thacon "started" yuletide drop rates when it had been started already, but was like 3 pages in).

As for the sticky,

Under unstarted:
Stocking mimic drops is done http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=135
-NC% is done http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71
Yuletide troll drop rate needs data, is here http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=60
Player hit chance, kneebutt to hit,and kneebutt stun is done http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=82
Origami towel crane needs data (w/the can) http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=109
heavy mimic + wardrobe needs data (unless it's been solved elsewhere) http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=103
I think the DoD monster stats are in the wiki, so done

I think under needs data
The louvre is done
And the fam drop mechanic is done

The mimic + wardrobe was confirmed as part of one of the super low turncount slimetube runs. Where the mimic was not actually helpful at all, since the purse rat is just a pet rock when it comes to wardrobe/doppelshifter.

Is the kneebutt stuff on the wiki? Similarly with the -combats (I assume you mean -combats, not -NC's; the later means +combats).

And the DoD thing presumably means the revamped Greater-than sign, and I'm not sure what those stats were derived from off-hand.

I believe those at PoF/HoD attempted a tube run with a wardrobed mimic some time ago. It was proven turning into a purse rat didn't give ML since it was technically after combat started, but i'm sure one of those who did the run can confirm a heavy mimic works normally with most other familiars. (The mimic run was mentioned in this thread http://forums.kingdomofloathing.com/vb/showthread.php?t=185130 by the way)

I'm sad i didn't get a chance to finish my spading on it, i managed to break my laptop a few days after starting, so KoL access was very limited.

Edit: Apparently i'm too tired to notice fred said basically the same thing i did, before me, oops

1) That thread asks the question if for any familiar (not just the purse rat!), does the mimic act at 100lbs. The fact that the mimic doesn;t act like a purse rat at all does not answer this question (i.e. can it act like a 100lb potato, or is that capped? or can you get a 100lb hobo monkey?)

2) Yes. Though I spaded it, as no one ever responded to its doneness, Techsmurf eventually put that on the wiki.

3) OK, the > sign on the wiki doesn't have the appropriate numbers yet.

Sorry. My understanding of that stunt is that it included spading that showed that, yes, it acts as a 100 lb version of whatever it turned into. But, they didn't check this with the rat directly, and it turns out the rat is useless as part of the wardrobe/doppelshifter rotation due to how its ML modifier is applied. I suppose I could be mistaken. Once you have a fairly heavy mimic it should be relatively easy to test this, as things like starfish types will restore inordinately large amounts of MP at high weights. Still a bit of luck involved, but shouldn't take long. Other than getting to a high enough base weight that you're satisfied, unless you care to dump meat into it.

You are correct. It made us all very sad when we found this out :(

Sorry, I misunderstood that then. I knew they showed that the purse rat didn't work at all, I had forgotten that they showed the high weight worked for other things.

OK, I think I got most-all of it done. If I haven't, poke this thread, or put Completed/Finished/Done in your thread title. Hopefully the system will be a bit more responsive to that.
